Global Electronics Shortage

We are unable to source components until late 2024, therefore the system/project will no longer be available.

We will be making everything open-source, converting the system and project into a hobby system.

All the software and hardware components will be open-source, the components are all “off-the-shelf” electronics based off Raspberry Pi boards, Raspberry Pi camera modules, and standard USB Wi-Fi dongles and antennas that are readily available. The Raspberry Pi components might be hard to find/purchase.

The CAD files for the housing for the camera system will also be made available, anyone with access to a 3D printer will be able to print the housing or make modifications to the CAD files to make any modifications to suit their requirements.

We would very much like to thank everyone’s support over the years since 2012, it’s a bit of a sad day for us, though hopefully turning the system/project into an open-source environment, collectively we’ll be able to make the system better and expand upon its capabilities through other’s expertise.

Best Regards,

David Zielinski

  1. Hi David,

I’m very sorry to hear this. I have been so very much looking forward to seeing news that your company had been able to source the components you needed so I could purchase one of the 1000m systems. Especially as I live in the next suburb over from where you are located (I’m in Croydon).

I’ll be crossing my fingers this changes despite it looking like at present it will not happen for another 2 years.

Wishing you the very best and hoping good news comes sooner than you think.

    Kind regards,

    Peter

  2. I was looking into how I might make my own version of this when I stumbled across your website. Wouldn’t bother putting my own together for these prices! So sad that you’re not producing them anymore. If you could post any files you’ve got to open source the hardware, it’d be great, but understand if you still want to keep it closed.

All the best in the future regardless.

  3. Hi David,
Can you provide a component list and any software required to build a hobby version of your product?
I would like to attempt a kit build since your product is not available. Not my preferred option but better than nothing.
    Graeme
