We recently went to the Ballarat East Rifle Club and met up with their members to scope out a multi camera system and also check out the layout of the range. One thing is for certain, every range is different in design, and depending on your discipline the types of targets vary greatly.
The guys at the club were great to talk to, and are affiliated with Target Rifle Victoria, their .22LR Rim Fire targets are incredibly small, so we did some testing of positioning the camera system at various distances and changing the resolution to FULL HD (1920×1080).
The images below and left shows the position on the camera (not ideal, but for testing purposes), and the image below right shows the output from the camera. With a few modifications, the definition of the camera can be enhanced for super small targets. So we’ve got a bit of work to do and will visit the club again soon for further testing.
